It’s a family reunion when Victor’s brother, Matt Miller, returns to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, this time played by Richard Gleason. The actor teased his appearance with a dressing room selfie, though at the time he wasn’t able to reveal what he was actually working on. “Deep in the bowels of CBS in my dressing room,” he shared. “Four episode arc. Super hush hush. Not allowed to say.”
Viewers might recognize Gleason from his many primetime appearances guesting on series like FRASIER, LAS VEGAS, CSI: NY, 2 BROKE GIRLS, and CRIMINAL MINDS. More recently, he had a recurring role as a French professor in THIS IS US.
Matt Miller is the younger brother of Victor Newman, whose birth name was Christian Miller. The character first appeared on Y&R in 1983 and was played by Robert Parucha. After their father abandoned the family, Matt and Victor were both given up for adoption, and Matt came to Genoa City to reconnect with his sibling. Nikki set Mat up with Ashley in an attempt to get her away from Victor, but it didn’t quite work out. Matt left town in 1985, but returned briefly in 2003 to deliver the news to Victor that their father was on his death bed.
It would seem that Matt is returning as part of the storyline of Jack looking for his real father. Since Victor’s father, Albert Miller (played on-screen in 2003 by the late George Kennedy) is one of the suspects, he may have some new information for Victor, who isn’t thrilled about the idea of his worst enemy becoming family! And while this is just a brief run, there’s no telling what the future holds.
