Melissa Claire Egan Reveals Her Maternity Leave Plans for Y&R!
Glowing mother-to-be Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) shared another baby bump photo on Instagram, thanking her followers for the love and support she and hubby Matt Katrosar have received since announcing last week that they were expecting their first child after a long and emotional journey that included two miscarriages.
“One more photo taken by Matt a few weeks ago on vacay,” the Y&R actress wrote. “We’re overwhelmed and soooo touched by all the love we’ve gotten since sharing about Baby K on the way. You guys are the best, your words have meant so much to us. Thank you.”
Egan added that she’s loved reading all of the questions from her followers about her storyline on Y&R — and has no idea what is going to happen between now and when her baby boy is due at the end of August. “Not sure how I’ll be written out for maternity leave yet. We have some time,” she confessed before joking, “Maybe I’ll fall down a well! Or get kidnapped again by Stryker!”
In case you may not remember, Stryker was the thug hired by Adam back in November to kidnap Chelsea and drag her away from the Chancellor Estate… and the character just so happened to be played by Egan’s husband! In a move predicated on COVID restrictions, Katrosar was hired by the soap to play the kidnapper since the scene required close contact and social distancing was not possible.
Katrosar, a television executive, even appeared on the soap’s New Year’s Eve episode when an EMT was needed to treat Chelsea hands-on during a medical crisis. So it is entirely possible that he could return as masked kidnapper Stryker if Adam decides to take revenge on Chelsea by having her abducted again! On the other hand, as Chelsea’s plan to frame Adam for attempting to murder Rey falls apart around her, it’s entirely possible she’ll just go on the run again!
While that is still several months away, Egan reassured her fans that when the time comes, her exit from Genoa City will only be a temporary one. “I’ll be back!” she replied to a follower who asked if she’d be leaving the soap forever. “Just gone for a few weeks.”
