What Happened to Tom Fisher on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
“Terrible” Tom Fisher was nothing but trouble on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS from even before he set foot in Genoa City. The character first appeared in 2004 played by Jonathan Fraser in flashbacks, but when he showed up for real in 2005, Y&R cast the role with the late Roscoe Born, who ran until his violent end in 2006. Though he did make a brief return appearance in 2009.
Tom Fisher was a nasty character who was abusive to his son, Kevin Fisher, and wife, Gloria Fisher. Although his family had left him behind, Tom showed up in Genoa City after hearing that Kevin had won the lottery and tried to threaten his son into sharing his winnings. When Kevin stood up to his abusive father, Tom turned to his step-son, Michael Baldwin, and told the successful attorney he’d leave town if he paid him $10,000. Michael agreed, but warned him never to return or he’d kill him.
After Tom blew through that money, he turned his attention to Gloria, who had married into the wealthy Abbott family. He informed her that they were never legally divorced, so her marriage to John Abbott was invalid. Fearing she would lose her husband, Gloria agreed to pay Tom for his silence. When John’s daughter, Ashely Abbott, learned the truth, she schemed with Michael to get Tom arrested on drug charges and even pretended to date him to bring him down. Gloria tried to refuse to continue paying him, but Tom threatened to kill John, so she reluctantly kept the cash coming.
Tom met Sheila Carter and hatched a plan with the notorious villainess to kidnap her nemesis and Michael’s fiancée, Lauren Fenmore. The evil duo planted a bomb on the honeymoon yacht and Michael watched as Lauren was supposedly blown to bits! But Lauren was actually imprisoned in a bomb shelter where she convinced Tom that Sheila was dangerous and he contacted Gloria to arrange a deal to turn Lauren over. But Tom intercepted the call and met Tom in the alleyway instead. During their struggle, the gun went off and Tom was killed. Thankfully, Lauren was able to escape the bomb shelter before it caved in though Sheila was assumed to be dead while she was actually off getting a new face.
Years later, Kevin saw Tom’s ghost and he and Michael had their father cremated and dumped his ashes down the sink. It was also revealed that Tom’s affair with Sheila had resulted in twin children, Daisy Carter and Ryder Callahan.
