The new Faith on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS is Reylynn Caster, who will be taking over the role beginning on Monday, April 12. “The news is out!” the young actress exclaimed on Instagram when the story broke. “Extremely grateful and excited to be carrying on the role of Faith Newman.”
The first young actress to play Faith after twin babies was Alyvia Alyn Lind, who debuted in 2011. In 2013, McKenna Grace stepped into the role for a year before Lind returned to Y&R in 2014. In early March, news broke that Lind had been cast as one of the stars in the new SyFy TV series CHUCKY. And while Lind had previously been able to work moonlighting on primetime series like TRANSPARENT, MASTERS OF SEX, FUTURE MAN, and DAYBREAK into her work on the CBS sudser, it seems like the soap has opted to recast so they can continue telling Faith’s story uninterrupted.
Caster might be familiar to viewers from her roles in the TV series THINK. CREATE. REPEAT, ME, MYSELF AND I, AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE, and most recently, Netflix’s THE BIG SHOW SHOW. Y&R will mark her daytime debut.
With Faith having started drinking heavily as a result of bullying, the teen grabbed a bottle of tequila and drove off in a truck. Y&R spoilers for the week of March 29 have Faith unconscious in the hospital fighting for her life, but since this recast is coming in just a couple of weeks, it seems she’ll survive. But this near-tragedy is going to change the Newman family forever, so make sure you stay tuned to Y&R to see what happens next!
