Sofia Dupre hasn’t been on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS for a while, and even fans who were watching back then might still need a refresher on the character — which is where we come in! She was first introduced back in July of 2010 when Julia Pace Mitchell joined the cast and appeared for nearly two years before Sofia was written out of Y&R in October of 2012.
Neil Winters and Sofia didn’t get along when she first arrived in Genoa City working for Tucker McCall, but after discovering she was engaged to marry his brother, Malcolm Winters, the two buried the hatchet and became friends. After discovering that Cane Ashby had created a fake identity to pocket that extra paycheck from the company, Sofia decided to help him because he was trying to pay off a blackmailer. Unfortunately, the truth came out and Cane was then shot dead, leaving Sofia guilt-ridden. Malcolm dumped her and when she found comfort with his brother, Sofia and Neil ended up having sex.
After Neil convinced Tucker to rehire Sofia, Malcolm also forgave her and the two were married. But when she found out she was pregnant, Sofia wasn’t sure who was the babydaddy. However, she couldn’t perform a paternity test until after the child was born. Following the birth of Baby Moses (named after her father), Sofia learned that Neil was his father. Neil asked her to marry him, but she was initially reluctant to accept, fearing he was only doing it out of obligation. But being in love with Neil, Sofia agreed and the two tied the knot.
The marriage began to fall apart when Neil found out that Sofia was doing some underhanded scheming as part of her job working for Tucker and he began to doubt her integrity. He then found himself drawn to Harmony, and Sofia was heartbroken. Realizing that Neil would never love her the way she loved him, she filed for divorce. When Sofia landed her dream job in New York City, Neil threatened a custody battle if she thought about taking Moses with her, but he later had a change of heart and Sofia left town with their son. In September of 2018, Neil went to visit Sofia, who had reportedly been in a serious car accident. And in 2019, Sofia returned to Genoa City to attend Neil’s funeral after his sudden passing.
