Arianne Zucker Shares the Lessons She’s Learned From Her Daughter (EXCLUSIVE)
Actress Arianne Zucker (Nicole, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) grew up having a brother. But as a mother, she says having just one child to mentor into adulthood is challenging enough! The performer has “grown so much together” with her 11-year-old, Izzy. “I want to speak to her on her level so that when I’m discussing things, she can understand it,” she explained to Soaps In Depth before hastening to add: “But kudos to people who have multiple children. I don’t know how they do it with so many different personalities.”
Bright and mature for her age, Izzy makes things pretty easy. “She’s often the one teaching me how to be a great mom,” Zucker admitted. “She’s teaching me patience and just how to think before you act… We have to discipline so differently than our parents did and find ways to communicate differently.”
The mandate to stay home during the pandemic meant that Zucker and partner Shawn Christian (ex-Daniel) needed to be Izzy’s playmates. Friends and fans alike saw the fun Tik-Tok dance videos that they made together (and posted online) and were inspired to do likewise with their own families. But at the end of the day, Zucker related, “I’m communicating that, ‘I’m so your friend right now, but I’m also your mom.’ I think through ages 8 and 9, she was still figuring out what that meant.”
For a lot of parents, that conversation translates into monitoring how their kids interact with the Internet. Fortunately, the proud mama says that Izzy has found a way to put it to good use. “She’s very into learning and likes DIY things,” Zucker said. “So that’s what she uses social media for.”
