The Emotional Will and Sonny Scene You Didn’t See on DAYS: A Visit to Adrienne’s Grave

Headwriter of DAYS OF OUR LIVES, Ron Carlivati, took to Twitter again to let fans know about another scene that was cut for time in a recent episode. In the March 24 episode, viewers saw Will and Sonny talking with Maggie as she apologized for killing Adrienne and the time Will spent in jail for her death. What they didn’t see were the later scenes where the couple visited Adrienne’s grave. The scribe transcribed the dialogue for fans curious about what they missed.

As Will led his husband into the cemetery holding flowers, Sonny remarked, “So this is where you wanted to bring me.” Will explained that he thought this would be good for both of them. “See, I’ve been thinking lately… about how neither one of us really got the chance to fully grieve for your mom.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have lumped us together,” Will continued. “I mean, yes, she was my mother-in-law, and I loved her. But she was your mom. That’s very different, obviously. And I know the loss for you has been… Well, I don’t know. I can only imagine how painful it’s been. But because we were so overwhelmed with guilt and confusion and the chaos that ensued after the accident, I think we were distracted from mourning her properly… together. So I thought this could at least be a start.” Sonny nodded and emotionally agreed.

The two men looked down at the headstone in silence for a while before Sonny finally spoke. ” Mom, I promise you I’ll try my damndest to honor your memory by being a loving, compassionate person like you were,” he said. “Not that I’ll ever be in your league… but I will give it my all.”

Will chimed in to add, “And I will, too. Adrienne, I’m so grateful to you… for bringing Sonny into the world.” He smiled at that, then turned serious as he continued. “But mostly for treating me like family. How lucky I was to have your love and support. But what is comforting to me, and I hope it is to your sons, is that you live on in them. Your kindness, your humor, your generosity. You did pass that along.”

Sonny tearfully declared, “I miss you, mom. So much. I always will.” Together Will and Sonny set the flowers down on the grave and held each other tightly.
