Who Is Adam on GENERAL HOSPITAL?
Adam doesn’t appear very often on GENERAL HOSPITAL but he does keep popping up, so if you need a refresher on the character and his portrayer, we’re happy to help! Actor Joshua Benard actually first appeared in the special 2018 anniversary episode of GH when he played a young Sonny Corinthos. And yes, he’s Maurice Benard’s (Sonny) son! The young performer returned to the soap in the newly-created role of Adam for the March 16, 2022 episode. He then came back on June 3 and for two more episodes in November 2022. Then it was announced the younger Benard would appear again in September 2023 and he has continued to recur as Josslyn’s college classmate.
Adam was introduced when he joined Josslyn Jacks in Charlie’s Pub for a study date. With midterms right around the corner, she was hoping he could help her prepare. Of course, the chemistry Adam wanted to discuss was very different as he’d seen the video of her and Cameron Webber online and thought she was hot. Josslyn was horrified and didn’t want to discuss it. She ordered Adam to leave and when he refused, threatened to punch him! As he left, Adam snarked she was pretty sensitive for a girl with a sex tape.
A few months later, Adam approached Cam and Joss at the Metro Court Pool and Cameron gave them a moment to speak privately. Adam admitted that he read her article in The Invader about what she went through and felt terrible for the things that he’d said. Josslyn forgave him and Adam left when Cameron returned.
In November, Adam overheard Josslyn in the PCU dorm hallway talking to Trina Robinson on the phone about the campus spraying for bedbugs. When Joss later caught the R.A. knocking on her door to check on the situation, she claimed that she was just talking about a rumor she’d heard. When Adam walked down the hall, she accused him of ratting her out. He suspected she was hiding someone in her dorm room and after hearing a thump inside, Joss lied that she’d rescued a cat and asked him not to tell anyone. He agreed and asked her to put in a good word for him with Trina. Josslyn informed him Trina was seeing someone, but she’d talk him up if that changed.
However, by October, Adam seemed smitten with Josslyn when they studied together for midterms. He also seemed a bit disappointed when Dex Heller showed up and Joss decided to take a break from studying to spend time with her beau. On Halloween, Adam shared his upset with Joss that he’d only gotten a 92.5 on the test, and she urged him to stop being so hard on himself. But after watching Josslyn head out with Dex for the evening, Adam returned to his room and berated himself for his grade.
When Adam wanted to study again and Josslyn turned him down, he became insistent and she suggested he find a new study partner. He told her she’d already helped him so much, even in ways she didn’t know. Upon returning to his room, Adam talked to his dad on the phone and assured him he was studying and doing fine, but after hanging up, popped some pills.
