GH’s Nicholas Chavez Celebrates His Birthday on Top of a Volcano!
Some people enjoy a nice lunch or dinner, and probably a big cake with candles on it, but GENERAL HOSPITAL star Nicholas Chavez (Spencer) spent his birthday this year climbing to the summit of Mount Fuji! “Holy smokes,” the actor marveled as he shared pics of his adventure. “I turned 24 on top of this… very large volcano. Kinda insane, really!
“This past year has been a huge blessing,” he added. “Very grateful for the many wonderful people, artists, and travelers that have been brought into my life. Grateful, too, for my friends and family, who I cherish! Excited for the year to come!”
Chavez was on vacation in Japan when his birthday fell on Sept. 6 this year. And on the day he turned 24, he hiked to the summit of Mount Fuji, the tallest mountain in the country located southwest of Tokyo. July and August are the most popular times of year for hikers to make the trek as the weather is warmer and the huts and other facilities along the routes are staffed and operating.
“Hey, we did it!” Chavez proclaimed in the video at the end of his Instagram gallery where he panned his phone around to show the view. “There’s not much to see because it’s so cloudy but this is the top of Mount Fuji. And this is the little hut that we are hanging out inside of.” The actor then went inside to pan around and introduce his fellow hikers as they celebrated their impressive accomplishment.
The comments on his post filled up quickly with birthday wishes from fans and friends, including some of his GH castmates like Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) and Cassandra James (Terry), who enthused: “What an adventure!” And Josh Kelly (Cody), who was actually born in Yokosuka, Japan, declared: “Welcome to my homeland, homie!”
We can’t wait to see how Chavez celebrates his birthday next year when he turns 25!
