Camryn Grimes on Working With Baby Aria on Y&R

Everyone knows that old Hollywood adage about not working with kids or animals, but when you’re dealing with a kid as adorable as Aria Porter-Copeland on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, how can you resist?

During the scenes where Aria was fitted with her hearing aids as moms Mariah and Tessa looked on nervously and then celebrated when their little girl reacted to their voices, the family bond was evident. And when a viewer picked up on it, they wondered on X (formerly Twitter) if the actresses did any chemistry tests with potential babies for the soap or spent any extra time with Maddie and Millie Ingle (the twins who play Aria) to create this bond.

“No chemistry tests,” replied Camryn Grimes (Mariah), “but we just make sure to talk, hold, and interact with the girls once the camera stops rolling. Usually in between takes, they’ll come grab the baby but we like to have that time to get them really comfortable with us and the environment!”

That extra effort on her and co-star Cait Fairbanks’ (Tessa) parts to ensure Maddie and Millie’s comfort with both them as well as all the activity on the Y&R set is clearly paying off in the family chemistry that shows on screen. And with Grimes herself expecting her own baby in real life, spending lots of time with Aria’s portrayers will be great preparation for when she welcomes her own little boy or girl into the world!
