THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Continues Production Despite Positive COVID Tests

Despite two people at THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS testing positive for coronavirus, production of the soap is continuing uninterrupted. According to Deadline, an E-mail was sent to production crew stating that “production had received two new positive test results for COVID-19 on Nov. 1, 2020, and the individuals have begun self-isolation.”

In addition, affected areas of the production will be deep cleaned and disinfected and contact tracing has ensured that anyone in close contact with the infected individuals has been made aware of the situation. Naturally, Y&R is taking steps to respect the privacy of all affected workers.

Thankfully, the positive COVID tests did not affect the soap’s ability to continue filming scenes as scheduled this week. After shutting down temporarily in March, Y&R resumed production in July and began airing new episodes again in August. Thanks to the implementation of special safety protocols, productions like Y&R are able to split team members into zones so that even if someone contracts the coronavirus, the show can still continue taping.

It’s good to hear that soaps like Y&R are able to adjust to this new normal and continue producing all-new episodes of daytime drama for the fans against all odds. And hopefully, one day in the future this won’t even be an issue anymore.
