Tyler Johnson Says Goodbye to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

It seems that Tyler Johnson is leaving THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS where he has been playing Theo since June 2019. On Nov. 2, the actor tweeted “That’s all, folks!” which immediately led fans to speculate that he was announcing his exit from the soap. When one told him he was her favorite reason to watch Y&R right now and she was nervous he was leaving, Johnson replied, “It’s been an absolute pleasure.”

After responding to a few fans to share the love, Johnson made things even clearer with a subsequent tweet posted about an hour later. “I’ve always been an optimist,” he declared. “Today isn’t an end, but a new beginning. Thank you to everyone who tuned in to watch ‘Theo Vanderway’ — it was all a blast. The future is bright. Love you all.”

The character of Theo Vanderway first appeared in May 2019 played by actor Nic Luken. But within a month, the role was recast with Johnson, who became very popular with fans as he gave new depth to the cad. Originally introduced as a friend of Kyle’s from New York City, Theo came to Genoa City to stir up trouble for him but was soon revealed to be a long-lost Abbott relative. The slow-burn romance between Theo and Lola looked like it had potential but all of a sudden it was over and Theo wasn’t even invited to be with the Abbotts for Dina’s final moments.

Y&R has not yet confirmed Johnson’s exit from their end, and there is no information as to exactly when or how Theo will be written off the canvas. Hopefully, he’ll just leave town so it will be easier for him to return at some point in the future. We’ll also be sure to let you know where Johnson turns up next so you can tune in to watch him in a new project!
