Y&R Stars Celebrate Jerry Douglas’ Birthday — See The Pictures!
A few weeks ahead of his Nov. 12 birthday, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS patriarch Jerry Douglas (John) was feted by his co-stars with an intimate luncheon to mark his 89th year! Organized by TV daughter Eileen Davidson (Ashley), the gathering was held at Maggiano’s Little Italy restaurant at The Grove shopping complex, located just a stone’s throw away from the Y&R studio.
At a table decorated with two balloon bouquets in red, gold, and black, Douglas was joined by his wife, HOME & FAMILY hostess Kym Douglas, Peter Bergman (Jack), Davidson, Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren), Lauralee Bell (Christine), and Beth Maitland (Traci) for an Italian feast. “Such a special day celebrating Y&R patriarch Jerry Douglas with these fine people!” Davidson shared on Instagram.
Taking the opportunity to praise Davidson for being the hostess with the mostess, Kym revealed on Davidson’s post just how much the party meant to her husband. “Well everybody, I want you to know that Eileen planned, coordinated, and set up this entire surprise for my husband,” Mrs. Davis commented. “He was so touched by it and being surrounded by his work castmates that truly became his second loving family was just what the doctor ordered.
“We love you, Eileen,” Kym continued, “and Jerry has always called you his ‘Beauty.’ It’s obvious on the outside you are that, but it’s your heart that is the most beautiful thing about you! Thank you for making this patriarch’s day.”
Sharing photos from the party on her Instagram page, Bell thanked Davidson for the lovely afternoon. “Feel so lucky to have been included in this unbelievably special birthday lunch for Jerry Douglas!” Christine’s portrayer wrote. “I will cherish this afternoon always.”
Douglas made his debut on Y&R in March 1982 and spent 25 years wheeling and dealing as Jabot’s leader. Although the Abbott family patriarch was killed off in early 2006, he continued to recur on the show as John’s ghost through that summer, and briefly came back to the soap to play lookalike Alistair Wallington in 2008. Douglas made his last appearance on Y&R in September 2016.
Please join us in sending a rousing round of early birthday wishes to Douglas!
