Inside GENERAL HOSPITAL’s New Metro Court Pool Set

In the July 15th episode, GENERAL HOSPITAL introduced its newest set! “GH is very excited to announce the opening of the Metro Court Pool and Spa,” declared the soap’s executive producer, Frank Valentini. “The place to see and be seen this summer for all the heat and drama!”

From the initial conception of the idea to finishing the new set, the work took approximately three months according to GH production designers Jennifer Elliott and Andrew Evashchen. “Frank’s number one point was to make this set look believable,” Elliott reported to TV Insider. “That gave us a great jumping-off point.”

And the set is even more realistic for the actual pool that the stars and extras can use. “We lined [the water tanks] with a certain material that’s like a bed liner for trucks,” revealed Evashchen. “It works really well for pools. It’s durable and watertight. We chose a specific blue that Frank really liked and had the pool sprayed and sealed in that color.”

Viewers can look forward to seeing the Metro Court Pool and Spa all summer long. “Frank’s intention was to put this up and really get some use out of it,” Elliott shared. “It’s nice to have it on stage and not have it go up and down. We’re going to get a lot of use out of it.”
