Kimberly McCullough Is Directing FANTASY ISLAND!
Longtime fans of GENERAL HOSPITAL were happy to see Kimberly McCullough reprise her role of Robin Scorpio Drake for the special episode paying tribute to Sean Donely and his portrayer, the late John Reilly. But stepping in front of the camera has become increasingly rare for the actress, who has found much success behind the camera as a director. And now she’s adding another television series to her extensive resume: FANTASY ISLAND!
McCullough shared a couple of photos from “beautiful Puerto Rico” starting on May 27 but it wasn’t until June 7 that she revealed that she’s not on vacation, but on location, tackling another job! (Although those dates mean she hopefully was able to enjoy some sun and fun before getting to work!) The actress-turned-director shared a clapboard revealing that she’s directing an episode of the upcoming reboot of FANTASY ISLAND that’s premiering Tuesday, Aug. 10, on FOX.
GH fans have watched McCullough grow up on-screen — literally — as the young actress joined the soap back in 1985 at the start of her career. She went on to appear in shows like ONCE AND AGAIN, JOAN OF ARCADIA, and THE SHIELD, but in 2013, she stepped behind the camera to begin directing episodes of television shows like K.C. UNDERCOVER and PRETTY LITTLE LIARS. Eagle-eyed viewers might have seen her name on episodes of THE CONNERS, ONE DAY AT A TIME, THE BOLD TYPE, and ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO. More recently, McCullough has helmed multiple episodes of the Disney+ series HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL – THE SERIES.
FANTASY ISLAND doesn’t premiere until August, and McCullough didn’t reveal which episode she’s directing, so keep checking back at SoapsInDepth.com for updates as more information is announced.
