Will Lucci’s Pilot Fly?
ABC is scheduled to have its official “upfronts” event on Tuesday, May 15, which is when the network will announce the pilots have been officially picked up to join their programming slate. One of the hottest shows being buzzed about is DEVIOUS MAIDS, the brainchild of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES creator Marc Cherry that co-stars Emmy-winner Susan Lucci (Erica, ALL MY CHILDREN) as the wealthy Genevieve Delacourt. “Working with Susan was a dream,” Cherry tells Soaps In Depth. “She came in and instantly ingratiated herself with every cast member. She was lovely, open and honest. We had a blast. I’m hoping the show goes for a lot of reasons, but mostly to work with her.”
The exec spent the last several years orchestrating the machinations on Wisteria Lane. Is he okay with signing up for another potentially long-running series right away? “I’m ready to jump in,” he says with a smile.
