Precious Way Joins the Cast of DAYS OF OUR LIVES!
Buckle up, DAYS OF OUR LIVES fans, because there is a new family headed to Salem this spring — and these ladies are bound to stir up some trouble! On the heels of the news that Jackée Harry will be joining the DAYS cast as a new character named Paulina comes word from Blackfilm that daytime newcomer Precious Way has been tapped to play her daughter, Chanel.
“Get ready, Salem. A new family is arriving,” announced a tweet from the official DAYS account in confirming the news of Way’s casting. Although little information about Harry’s character had previously been revealed, Blackfilm reports that Paulina and Chanel will be connected to the canvas through Abe and the rest of the Carver family.
A musician and social media star, Way gathered quite a following on Instagram for her takes on rap tracks and earned a reputation of her own for her freestyling. The Chicago native, who is a cousin of rapper Soulja Boy, released her first single, “Watch Me Go” in 2017, and performed the urban radio hit at several music festivals before turning her focus to professional acting. Last year, Way was cast in her first television role, co-starring opposite female hip-hop legend MC Lyte in PARTNERS IN RHYME, a sitcom for streaming service ALLBLK. That series is still listed as being in pre-production, so time will tell how Way will juggle the sitcom with her DAYS duties.
Harry, of course, is known to primetime fans for her popular runs as mom Lisa on SISTER, SISTER and sexy neighbor Sandra on 227, but she got her acting start playing ANOTHER WORLD’s Lily. The actress announced her return to daytime back in December during an appearance on TODAY. “She’s fabulous!” Harry gushed of Paulina. “It’s a brand-new storyline with African-Americans. And they’ve been at the forefront of hiring minorities; they have a lot of diversity on DAYS. I don’t want to give away the storyline, but I have a daughter and… I’m told I’ll be fabulous.”
Although an air date for Harry and Way has yet to be officially announced, they are expected to make their DAYS debuts in March.
