Diane and Robert on GH? — Carolyn Hennesy Speaks Out!
It all started with a seemingly innocuous scene when GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Robert visited Diane in the hospital as she was recovering from her attack by The Hook. As the District Attorney and Port Charles’ best criminal defense lawyer, these two characters have crossed paths plenty of times in the past. But there something felt so very different in those hospital scenes as Diane and Robert seemed spirited around one another in a way GH viewers have never noticed before.
On top of the playful rapport, there was an undeniable chemistry between the actors involved, Carolyn Hennesy and Tristan Rogers, that we confess we never picked up on in the past. Then came the scene in the elevator when Diane seemed absolutely crushed to learn that Robert’s ex, Holly, was back in town. As he exited the elevator, Diane actually shed a tear! Suddenly, Soap Twitter lit up with some viewers cheering over Robert and Holly reuniting while others were rooting for a love match between Robert and Diane.
“Just reading through some of the tweets regarding Diane/Robert,” Hennesy wrote on Twitter. “Love that you love this pairing. Utterly respect his love for Holly… but seriously, this actress’ fingers are crossed!”
Considering that Emma Samms’ return as Holly was only slated to be a short-term run — and the actress is already back home in England — perhaps Diane can be Robert’s shoulder to cry on once he discovers that his ex-wife has been working as Victor’s spy. “That is the pairing we never knew we needed,” one Robert/Diane supporter tweeted in reply to Hennesy. “My fingers are crossed too.”
That sentiment was music to Hennesy’s ears. “That’s a great way to put it!” the actress answered back.
