The stars came out to celebrate a book launch in Hollywood and GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Finola Hughes (Anna) was one of them! “Beautiful night celebrating the launch of Dave Thomas’ new book Vanity Project, about his life as a stylist extraordinaire,” she shared on Instagram. “Caught up with the lovely Lionel Richie and many dear friends, Trudy Bellinger, Joseph Phliano, et al at Maxfield.”
Richie and John Legend hosted the book launch event held at Maxfield in Los Angeles, CA, on the evening of Nov. 22. Vanity Project is a chronicle of Dave Thomas’ rise from unemployed plumber to celebrity fashion stylist featuring interviews conducted by Boy George and hundreds of full-color photos of his styling work.
And yes, Hughes and Richie do know each other. In fact, the two were both in attendance back in July 2021 when television producer Nigel Lythgoe was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Among his many achievements, he created the reality competition series SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, of which Hughes is a big fan.
Soap fans know Hughes best for her Daytime Emmy Award-nominated work on GH and ALL MY CHILDREN but she began her career as a dancer, originating the role of Victoria the White Cat in the London production of Cats back in 1981. Dance has always been a big part of her life, and GH fans were able to enjoy her skills whenever she and Duke would tango together on the soap.
Still, despite Hughes’ decades in Hollywood, plenty of fans were still just as startled as her former AMC and current GH co-star, Cameron Mathison (Drew) who exclaimed: “OMG” with a series of heart-eye emoji faces! Hey, maybe Hughes can convince Richie to make a guest appearance at the next GH Nurses Ball? You never know!
