GH’s Josh Kelly is Filming a New Action Movie!
Fans of Josh Kelly (Cody, GENERAL HOSPITAL) will soon be able to see him in an exciting new film! The actor is currently taking some time off from the soap to shoot an action movie — but he won’t be away from Port Charles for very long, thankfully!
The actor announced his new project to his GH co-stars Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) on their Daily Drama podcast. Just before the trio signed off from their chat, the co-hosts asked Kelly what he had planned during the soap’s upcoming dark week… and he spilled the tea. “I’m doing a movie. It’s pretty cool,” he confessed. “I’m doing a revenge pic called The Workout Video.”
As Kelly explained, the movie’s original concept centered around two former special forces agents. However, those characters have since specifically been made to be former Army Rangers — just like Kelly himself, who served three tours of duty in Afghanistan and one tour in Iraq as a Ranger. “Technically, it’s a little more difficult to becoming a Navy SEAL,” he shared. “That’s just numbers, though. I’m not bragging about it.”
Speaking excitedly about the movie, Kelly divulged that “it’s a lot of action” and that the shoot was estimated to be about three weeks long. “The timing magically worked out,” he added, with GH already having a planned week-long hiatus during that time frame. “The show’s been really cool. They’re like, ‘Yeah, well, we don’t need you,’” he said with a laugh.
Kelly also confessed that he was looking forward to flexing his acting abilities while working on the movie. “It’s going to be fun. I haven’t done any side or other projects since I’ve been on the show,” he revealed, before ending the interview by joking to Burton that he’s “Gotta kill some bad guys. I learned it from watching you, Jason!”
