GH’s Katelyn MacMullen Looks Forward to Mother’s Day (EXCLUSIVE)

On Mother’s Day, GENERAL HOSPITAL‘s Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) is thrilled to not just be in the same city as mom Shannon but to be in the same house! “My parents and my youngest brother moved to L.A. [in 2018],” she told Soaps In Depth. “They’d been in Reno for the last seven years, and I hadn’t seen them that much since I moved away at 18. So when I booked GH, I was like, ‘I don’t want to go apartment-hunting again; maybe I’ll live with you guys.’”

Since then, MacMullen has loved reconnecting with her mother. “We have a great relationship,” she grinned. “We were always in contact a lot, but I was a lot different the last time I lived with her. I’d like to say I’ve gotten more mature! And she’s embraced that.”

The actress has also found a new appreciation of her mother. “She does a lot for me, and having lived on my own, I realize how much patience, effort and time that takes,” MacMullen said. “I also tend to be a very emotional person, and she’s the opposite. So she has to ground me and to listen to me go on these crazy rants about life or how I’m feeling. And she’s like, ‘You just need to relax.’ It’s great. We learn a lot from each other.”

The roomies also enjoy getting to just hang out. “We’ve been really into cooking,” MacMullen said. “We also live by these amazing walking trails, so we’ll take walks, cook and watch movies. That’s kind of all we do! Oh, and we also love to shop.”

And that will all probably be on the agenda this Mother’s Day. “We’ll just do all of our favorite things,” MacMullen said. And whatever they get into, it will beat the holiday she had a few years ago. “I was on the phone with her, and I tripped and fell and had to go get stitches in my hand. I was already crying because I wasn’t there for Mother’s Day… and then I was crying even more because I had to go to the hospital! It was just terrible.”
