Lisa LoCicero Looks for Daytime Emmys Advice
Once a year, the Daytime Emmy Awards celebrates the best in daytime drama, but for the actors on the soaps, they have to make some hard choices about whether or not to submit themselves and if they decide to go for it, which episodes to submit for consideration. GENERAL HOSPITAL star Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) has had some fantastic showcases for her talent in recent episodes… although it’s got the actress second-guessing herself!
“Honest question for fellow daytime actors on Emmy reel week,” the self-deprecating GH star tweeted. “Watching your year of work, is your visceral reaction like, ‘Yes! Nailed it! G.O.A.T.!’ or ‘Holy [bleep]… I’d better apologize to SAG and the people before I get a facelift and jump in a volcano?’ Asking for me.”
Naturally, the fans were quick to praise LoCicero’s powerful performances as Olivia learned of her husband’s infidelity and then nearly lost her son. And her daytime compatriots were just the same. “You are a queen of daytime and I will hear of zero negative thoughts by anyone about your beautiful self or acting,” declared Chrishell Stause (ex-Jordan, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; Amanda, ALL MY CHILDREN). “Including you — we are our own worst critics! You are amazing. And I have had my votes many, many times. I am not a voter this time, so I can say this — but just known that!”
Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) joked, “I’m not sure you’ll get this, I’m in side of a volcano and the connection is bad, but…” However, LoCicero’s TV husband Wally Kurth (Ned) admitted he sometimes feels the same way. “At first viewing I’m fine,” he confided, “but after more viewings I can’t help but think it won’t stand out or stand at all.” To that, LoCicero declared: “You can’t not stand out, hubby.”
This year, the call for entries for the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards was on Jan. 6, and the final entry deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 17. So LoCicero had better hurry and get her reel together if she wants to be one of the nominees when they’re announced this spring!
