Maurice Benard’s Beautiful Birthday Message From His Wife, Paula — See the Pics!
Sonny’s marriage is a shambles right now on GENERAL HOSPITAL but in real life, portrayer Maurice Benard’s love affair with wife Paula is still going strong! She used the occasion of his birthday on March 1 to take over her hubby’s Instagram and share a very special message with him and everyone else. “I can’t help falling in love with you,” she declared. “Happy 59th, honey!”
Paula put together a montage of early photos of Benard set to Elvis Presley’s rendition of the classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love” that starts with a vintage pic of the couple hugging each other followed by some classic images of the actor at the beginning of his career and ending with more recent pics from their life together. “Here are a few fun photos to show people what I fell for in the early days,” she explained. “Then just a few more of what I am so proud of.”
Her Instagram post begins with the video montage and is followed by a gallery of some of her favorite things including photos of Benard with his kids, his late father, classic school-age shots of Paula and Benard, and more. “You are a man of purpose and determined to make a change. For that, I am proud to be your wife,” Paula said. “And I will always be by your side and stand behind you always. Hope you don’t mind me taking over your Instagram today. Mine just isn’t as cool as yours.”
Naturally, Benard didn’t mind his wife’s Instagram takeover one bit! “First of all, I have a tear coming down my left cheek,” he responded in the comments. “The post is absolutely incredible with music and everything… why couldn’t I think of that?
“You have been there from the beginning to help my ‘State of Mind’ go through two nervous breakdowns, many anxieties, and depressions,” Benard continued. “You were there when I got my first soap opera (there’s nothing general about that), you gave me a family that I’m so freaking proud of. And most importantly, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you. You have saved my life more times than I can count on one hand. I love you with every inch of my soul.”
