Tabyana Ali Opens up About Taking Over for Sydney Mikayla as Trina on GH

When Tabyana Ali took over the role of Trina in the March 25 episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL, she was actually already familiar with the character! The young actress revealed that surprising behind-the-scenes tidbit during a Facebook Live chat she did with co-stars Donnell Turner (Curtis), Tanisha Harper, and Brook Kerr (Portia).

“The interesting thing about this character is I went out for this role when I was 16,” Ali confided. “And it came down to me and the previous Trina, Sydney [Mikayla], beforehand. So I had some idea who Trina was because I had to fall into her three years ago.”

However, when GH called her in to audition, she had no idea which part she was actually reading for! “When I was auditioning and did the process, I did not know I was going up for the role of Trina again,” Ali admitted. “I thought this was a brand new, whole different character. And it wasn’t until after I booked it that I realized, ‘Oh, this is Trina again.’”

The daytime newcomer was also aware that when she stepped into this particular role, she had some pretty big shoes to fill. “It was definitely intimidating,” Ali confessed, “because Trina has a really big fan base and she is loved by a lot of people. Sydney did such a great job making her come to life.

“So I was like, ‘I really want to keep that going and keep that alive,’” she added. “It was a challenge, but I think I’m starting to become a little bit more comfortable in it.”

Keep watching GH to watch Ali settle into the role of Trina and make it her own as the storyline continues to unfold!
