Vincent Irizarry Wants to Honor Beverlee McKinsey

One soap star is hoping to help get another soap star a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award. Vincent Irizarry has starred on GUIDING LIGHT (as Lujack/Nick), SANTA BARBARA (as Scott), ALL MY CHILDREN (as David), THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS (as another David), and DAYS OF OUR LIVES (as Deimos), so he has worked with plenty of talented actors and actresses throughout his career. But now he is hoping that former GL castmate Beverlee McKinsey can be honored with the Emmy she so richly deserved.

“Shockingly, Beverlee was nominated for an Emmy numerous times for her unforgettable, powerful performances for her many years on shows such as ANOTHER WORLD, TEXAS, and finally in GL, but never won,” Irizarry wrote on Instagram. “Anyone that knew her, as well as her work ethic, all of whom were left in awe of her talent while working opposite her, and even more important, those watching her as a fan of those shows, knows this fact makes no sense whatsoever.”

McKinsey became a daytime star playing scheming Iris Carrington on ANOTHER WORLD and was made the star of its spinoff series, TEXAS. From 1977-1980, she earned four consecutive Daytime Emmy Award nominations for her work on ANOTHER WORLD. The actress then went on to play Alexandra Spaulding on GL in 1984, exiting in 1992. McKinsey passed away in May 2008.

“Therefore, it has been brought to my attention that there is a petition to NATAS to finally award her posthumously with a Lifetime Achievement Award for the significant role she played in elevating that medium while entertaining us all at the highest caliber throughout all those years,” Irizarry said. “Please join us in this endeavor so that, in her name, we all may be able to thank and honor her, deservedly so. Thank you all.”

If you would like to add your name to the list of people trying to honor this daytime icon, you can visit change.org and sign the petition.
