Marci Miller Reveals Why She Left DAYS OF OUR LIVES and What She’s Doing Now (EXCLUSIVE)

While DAYS OF OUR LIVES fans were surprised when Abigail was recast with Marci Miller, an actress so different in appearance from her predecessor, Miller herself had not been. “I’m always cast as the sweet girl next door who has it all together,” she admitted to Soaps In Depth. While it took time for the switch to be accepted by some viewers, Miller’s talent eventually won them over. That’s when she was handed the challenge that really let her strut her stuff: Abby’s split personality! “The reality is that I think of myself as a character actor,” she said. “So I loved playing the ‘Gabby’ role.”

While it was certainly hard work, Miller rose to the occasion with mesmerizing performances that she can always be proud of. “The dissociative-identity disorder storyline was the thing that I’ll never forget,” she reflected. “I don’t know if I’ll ever have an opportunity to do that again.” Exhilarating as the experience was, Miller kept the promise she’d made to herself to leave at the end of her two-year contract so that she could go and take on other characters. “DAYS had become my life… It’s what I woke up every single day to do,” she recalled. “So it was hard to step away, but I knew that it was right.”

Fortunately, Miller was rewarded with a role on a new futuristic TV series (working title NOVA VIDA), which she spent four months shooting. In it, she’s the wife of a guy who “wakes up on [an operating] table in the middle of the ocean and wonders, ‘Where am I? What’s going on?’” Miller explained. “So it’s about their journey back to each other.” Last month, Miller wrapped production on F.E.A.R., a sci-fi/action film in which she plays a woman desperate to save her family when a pathogen is unleashed on their mountain town. “It was a very physical shoot. I got to some stunts, learn a lot about guns and run around!” she shared. “I was a total badass lady, so I was super stoked to get to do it.”

Having finally decompressed from the rigors of her DAYS storyline, Miller is excited about now being able to create something equally intriguing herself. “I’m doing a lot of writing, which is something I’ve not had the opportunity to sit down and do,” she confided. “And I’m going to New York with a group of friends to try to workshop a film that we’d like to get made.”
