Soap Star Nancy Frangione Dead at 70

Tags:

The daytime community has lost another bright star. Actress Nancy Frangione died on Aug. 18 at the age of 70. A cause of death has not yet been reported.

Frangione made her daytime debut in 1977 playing Tara Martin on ALL MY CHILDREN, a role she played until 1979. She also filled in as Tina Lord on ONE LIFE TO LIVE in 1985 while Andrea Evans was out sick.

But the actress is probably best known for playing the villainess Cecile DePoulignac on NBC sudser ANOTHER WORLD. Her initial run ran from June 1981 through November 1984, but the popular schemer returned multiple times to stir up more drama on the soap in 1986, 1989, 1993, and finally, from October 1995 to June 1996.

In addition to her work in daytime, Frangione could also be seen in primetime series like BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY, MATLOCK, HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN, and THE NANNY as well as TV movies like Sharing Richard and In the Line of Duty: A Cop for the Killing.

Frangione was previously married to her AW co-star Christopher Rich, who played Alexander “Sandy” Cory on the soap. They had one daughter, Mariel. Our thoughts are with Frangione’s family and friends during this difficult time.
