John McCook Opens up About Eric’s Legacy Line on B&B
It’s Forrester versus Forrester on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, but for Eric, this fashion face-off means so much more than just a friendly competition with his son.
“On paper, it seems good-natured and good sportsmanship and a fun family competition, but down deep, for Eric, it is not a fun competition at all,” John McCook (Eric) explained in a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest. “It is very important to him that he win this, and show Ridge that his skill is still there.”
There are also multiple layers to this storyline that B&B is telling. “The story is an ageism thing, where Eric is feeling that he is being elbowed out of the business in favor of the younger people at the company,” the actor said. “That really makes Eric angry. He can still contribute. Then [there] is this medical mystery with what’s going on with the trembling in Eric’s hands that makes it hard for him to draw.”
As the Forresters and Logans take their sides in the upcoming fashion face-off, everyone waits with bated breath to see the final collections and find out whether Eric or Ridge will emerge victorious in the end.
“Believe me,” McCook declared, “there is no doubt that Eric is determined to win this competition. This may be the most serious thing he has ever done.”
