Ted King Opens Up About Joining THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL

Daytime vet Ted King is making his debut on a CBS soap for the first time when he joins the cast of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL on Friday, July 30, in the role of Jack Finnegan. Up to this point, the actor only had ABC soaps on his resume, playing Danny on LOVING and THE CITY, Luis and Lorenzo on GENERAL HOSPITAL, and Tomas on ONE LIFE TO LIVE. And it turns out daytime came calling at just the right time!

“I had been jealous of the daytime actors over the last year who’ve actually been able to work when the rest of us were not able to work,” King admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “I did do a pilot in October in Colorado, which was fantastic, but under extreme circumstances of COVID testing and it was complicated. I like to create new characters all the time and when that gets cut off, you feel like a limb has been cut off; you’re not exercising your creativity enough.”

The fast-paced shooting schedule of soaps meant that King had to dive right in. “I’ve had big scenes with a lot of people in them,” he revealed, “so it’s been a bit of a whirlwind!” Thankfully, the actor had no problem connecting with Tanner Novlan, who plays his TV son, Finn. “Tanner has been fantastic,” King enthused. “We were thrown into a situation immediately playing father and son and I was trying to figure out the dynamic. We are still figuring that out, but we exchanged some physicality with one another, which I think helps show what the relationship is like.”

King is already familiar with some of his B&B co-stars, including Scott Clifton (Liam), who he worked with back on GH where they played Dillon and Alcazar!Tom Queally/ABC

King also has nothing but praise for Naomi Matsuda, who has been cast as his wife, Lo, and is also learning daily about Jack and Lo’s relationship as well as the one they have with their son, Finn. “We’re getting new scripts all the time and realizing, ‘Oh, this relationship is a lot more complicated than we thought it was when we first started,’” he confided, “and that will play out as they write more.”

The actor urged B&B fans to keep watching as the family is introduced and secrets are revealed. “Please be patient while I figure this man out!” King asked with a smile. “Hopefully day 30 is not going to look like day one. As the audience is getting to know him, so am I. The character is very young for me, so every day I show up and I’m trying to bring new levels to the character.”

Can’t wait to see who Jack Finnegan is and the drama that ensues when he shows up!
