Alex Perez on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS — Everything You Need to Know

Alex Perez was only on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS for a year and a half so it’s understandable if even longtime viewers don’t remember exactly who this character was. The attorney was introduced in November 2000 and was played by actress Alexia Robinson until she was written out of Y&R in May 2002. Let us fill you in on what you need to know:

Alex Perez arrived in Genoa City to work for Newman Enterprises to investigate the company’s health insurance policies and while she impressed Victor Newman, she immediately clashed with Neil Winters who was working with her on the case. Of course, those sparks soon turned romantic and they shared a kiss. Dr. Olivia Winters was happy to help Alex with her work, but never liked her because she felt she was a threat to her relationship with Neil.

Malcolm Winters became interested in Alex and began wooing her. Eventually they moved in together and he popped the question. So by the time that Neil was ready to confess his feelings for Alex, she was already engaged to his brother. The two siblings again found themselves fighting over the same woman, and when a drunken Neil confessed his feelings to Malcolm, Alex quickly insisted that she didn’t return those feelings and wanted to get married quickly.

The three of them went to Kenya to supervise a special photo shoot that Neil’s friend, Ryan McNeil, had arranged before his untimely death. There, Malcolm overheard Alex admit to Neil that she had feelings for him but took off before he could hear her add that she’d made her choice and had chosen Malcolm. While scouting locations, a bridge collapse left Malcolm presumed dead. After searching for his body to no avail, Alex and Neil reluctantly returned to Genoa City. Realizing that Malcolm overhearing their exchange led him to his death, the overwhelming guilt sent Neil back into the bottle and Alex back to Minneapolis. (A few years later, however, it was revealed that Malcolm had survived.)
