Y&R Alum Tammin Sursok Shares Her Emotional Family Reunion
The pandemic has been difficult for everyone, but there are still bright spots to be had every now and then. THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS alum Tammin Sursok (ex-Colleen) was overjoyed recently to finally come face-to-face with her parents, Julie and Daryl Sursok, for a long-overdue family reunion.
“After two-and-a-half years, I’m finally with my family again,” she shared on Instagram. “We couldn’t come into Australia for almost two years and then when we did, there was a surge and the borders closed the second day we arrived in hotel quarantine. We were in the same state for six hours but not able to see each other.
“The borders opened two days ago and my parents drove 10 hours to meet us,” Sursok continued. “I’m never letting them go. If you are in this situation, my heart is with you. Also, my mom wrote two books during COVID! Go get one as a Christmas gift for your parents.”
Sursok shared a video on Facebook that starts with her sitting in the car welling up with tears at the reunion that is about to take place. This is followed quickly by a shot of Sursok’s daughters, eight-year-old Phoenix and almost-three-year-old Lennon rushing into their grandmother’s waiting arms. They are quickly joined by Sursok herself as she wraps herself around everyone in a big group hug as her father steps in to join them all. (Presumably, Sursok’s husband, Sean McEwen, was the one holding the phone to record the emotional moment for posterity!)
Y&R fans remember Sursok for her 2007-09 run as Colleen Carlton, but the actress originally grew up in Sydney, Australia, and she got her big break playing Dani Sutherland on the hit Aussie soap HOME AND AWAY for four years.
The COVID pandemic struck home for Sursok back in January 2021 when her husband tested positive for the virus and his very high fever that wouldn’t break left her scared for the future. Thankfully, she and her daughters all tested negative and McEwen soon recovered. And now the entire extended family has finally been able to reunite and spend time together for the holidays. The timing couldn’t be better.
