Conner Floyd is the new Chance on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS!
As it turns out, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Abby has been right all along in refusing to believe that her husband, Chance, was dead! The soap has confirmed that daytime newcomer Conner Floyd has been cast as Chance and will make his first appearance on Y&R later this month!
An undercover detective, Phillip Chancellor IV — who is the son and grandson of legacy Y&R characters Nina and Jill, respectively — had been working out of the country on a top-secret mission since last February, when previous portrayer Donny Boaz made his final appearance in the role. While Chance was deeply undercover, Abby faithfully kept a video diary for her husband and kept in contact with him as their surrogate, Mariah, progressed in her pregnancy.
Melissa Ordway’s Abby was crushed when Chance never responded to her after baby Dominic was born, but she refused to believe the reports when Christine informed her that her husband had died in a horrific bombing. Especially since while Chance’s wedding ring was recovered at the site of the bombing, his body was never found!
Chance was played by several child actors before being introduced as an adult with GUIDING LIGHT alum John Driscoll (Coop) playing the role from 2009-2011. Boaz brought the character back to Genoa City in 2019, but when he tested positive for COVID-19 in 2020, Ordway’s real-life husband, Justin Gaston, briefly stepped in to shoot the episodes where the characters tied the knot.
As for Floyd, the Texas native’s previous credits include the television movies Malicious Motives, A Kiss on Candy Cane Lane, and the upcoming thriller Help Wanted, about a woman who inherits an old theater from her grandfather.
Something tells us that the Chace who returns to the canvas later this month will be a very different man than the one who left earlier this year — and we don’t only mean because Floyd will be adding his own touches to the role! Stay tuned to see what kind of challenges are ahead for Chance when Abby’s presumed-dead husband comes home to Genoa City!
