Donny Boaz Says Goodbye to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

In a surprising turn of events, Donny Boaz has announced he’s leaving THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS! “Tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 1, as of now, will be my last airdate on Y&R,” Chance’s portrayer revealed on Instagram. “Here’s what I know… I was told that Chance is not being replaced or killed off. He’s just not gonna be there anymore.”

Boaz made his debut as Chance in November 2019, taking over from John Driscoll, who appeared from 2009-10. The role was recast again in November 2020 when Boaz caught COVID-19 and had to isolate for a few weeks so Justin Gaston, the real-life husband of Melissa Ordway (Abby) was brought on for the episodes featuring Abby and Chase’s wedding.

“Overall, I am grateful and thankful for this amazing opportunity,” Boaz told his fans. “I know that I’m walking away from this better at my craft than before I started. 108 episodes. I want to thank Y&R for this amazing opportunity. I want to thank the fans. You all have been amazing. Thank you. I want to thank everyone associated with Y&R, my castmates, and the crew. You will be missed. I want to thank my agents and manager for bringing this opportunity into my life. We are optimistic for what is to come.

“Melissa, I know I said I wanted us to be the greatest daytime TV couple ever,” he continued. “I aimed high; I’m sorry we didn’t get to see it through. Working with you has been my absolute pleasure and I can easily say you are one of the greatest actresses I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. You deserve an Emmy this year. And… that’s a wrap. I am now a free agent. Time to get to work.”

Boaz’s exit comes as a surprise because Chance and Abby recently celebrated their wedding during Y&R’s celebration of its 12,000th] episode and the couple has been part of a front-burner storyline where Abby discovered she was unable to carry a child and they asked Mariah to act as a surrogate for them. For Chase to disappear right as this story is kicking off is quite unusual. Stay tuned to Y&R to see what happens to Chance and keep checking back to for more as this story develops!
