Eileen Davidson Clarifies Her Status at THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
Ashley keeps popping up in Genoa City and making it hard for fans to know if Eileen Davidson is on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS or not. A website recently ran a statement from a soap columnist claiming the actress would be back on the soap full-time as an Ashley-centric storyline was coming up, so Davidson had to speak out and clarify her status with Y&R. “I am happy to be coming back to Y&R to do a few shows,” she declared, “but I am not coming back full-time!”
Davidson originated the role of Ashley Abbott back in June 1982, and when she exited the show in 1988, the role was recast twice, with Brenda Epperson and then Shari Shattuck. Davison returned in 1999 but eventually chose to leave again at the end of 2018 to focus on her life and family. Still, she remains loyal to Y&R and has reprised the role occasionally since her exit as Ashley remains an important part of the Abbott family.
So, unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Davidson back on contract with Y&R for a big new storyline centered around Ashley. But fans can feel better knowing that the Daytime Emmy winner remains willing to come back to Genoa City for visits whenever the storyline requires it!
