Y&R’s Paxton Mishkind Shares His Mom’s Cancer Battle
The month of October is traditionally recognized to as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a designated time to increase education about the disease and raise funds for research. This year, the health campaign took on a special meaning for THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS child star Paxton Mishkind (Johnny), who revealed on social media that his mother, Jenna Ermold, is currently battling the disease.
In an Instagram post on his mom-run account, Mishkind shared a photo of him and Ermold, the two of them smiling brightly while standing in front of a tree bright with yellow foliage. “October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is very important to me,” the 14-year-old wrote. “My mom was diagnosed this year and thanks to so many advances, she is doing well.”
Ermold is wearing a black zip-up hoodie in the photo adorned with the iconic pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness, her blonde locks replaced with a short crewcut — presumably new growth after she lost her hair during treatment.
“We wanted to spread the word to know your risk, get screened, know your normal, make healthy choices, and take action!” Mishkind added. “Pink together, stronger forever!”
