All the Details on John McCook’s New Movie With His Daughter, Molly!
When the made-for-TV holiday movies start airing in November and December, be sure to look out for one titled Candy Coated Christmas because THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL icon John McCook will be appearing in the film alongside his real-life daughter, LAST MAN STANDING and GOOD TROUBLE actress Molly McCook!
While the market on original holiday films is largely monopolized by Hallmark and Lifetime, The Food Network is throwing its hat into the ring this year with their first-ever scripted movie. According to Variety, Candy Coated Christmas will star Molly McCook and mark the acting debut of Ree Drummond, host of the Food Networkβs long-running show THE PIONEER WOMAN. Filmed over the course of two weeks in Utah this month, Candy Coated Christmas is set to debut in November on the subscription streaming service Discovery+.
Candy Coated Christmas centers around Mollyβs character Molly, a Los Angeles-based marketing executive who discovers the seed money for her new business venture has disappeared. Mollyβs dad β the B&B legend, in a bit of clever casting β suggests she visit her late motherβs small hometown, as an old family home may be the key to obtaining the start-up funds she needs. Arriving in Peppermint Hollow, Molly is befriended by bakery owner Bee (played by Drummond in a role penned specifically for her) and is soon introduced to the friendly folks who call the peppermint capital of the world home. Molly is invited by the Winters family, who currently rents her momβs childhood home, to stay with them, offering her a lost connection to her own childhood memories and sparking the idea for a newly βmintedβ business.
βCanβt wait for you guys to see this movie!β Molly cheered on Instagram, posting a silly photo of her wearing a prop mustache. βMaybe you do look more like Dad,β quipped the B&B starβs wife and Mollyβs mom, Laurette, in the comments. (You can also see Drummondβs Instagram post about the movie, as well as some behind-the-scenes photos, here.)
The feel-good holiday film isnβt the first time that the McCooks will share the screen together: Back in 2010, Molly appeared on B&B in a handful of episodes as Hopeβs high school friend, Margot.
