Soap Alums on DANCING WITH THE STARS Week One Recap

Tags:

The 29th season of DANCING WITH THE STARS kicked off on Sept. 14 and there are three former soap stars among the celebrities competing for the coveted mirror ball trophy. So how did they do? If you missed the season premiere, don’t worry — we’ve got you covered!

Chrishell Stause

Chrishell Stause played Jordan on DAYS OF OUR LIVES and Amanda on ALL MY CHILDREN, but even her recent turn to high-end real estate agent on reality series SELLING SUNSET couldn’t prepare her to hit the stage with professional dance partner Gleb Savchenko. The pair performed a tango to “Raise Your Glass” by Pink, and unfortunately, the judges were less than impressed. They criticized her footing and posture but Carrie Ann Inaba admitted she had potential. Stause earned a 4, 5, and 4 from the judges, giving her a 13 out of 30, one of the lowest scores of the week.

Anne Heche

Soap fans will remember Anne Heche as Vicky/Marley on NBC’s ANOTHER WORLD before she went on to become a movie star. She and partner Keo Motsepe danced the cha cha to Dua Lipa’s song “Don’t Start Now” and left the judges quite impressed with how clean and precise it was, though Bruno Tonioli admitted it was a little mechanical. Heche was scored with three 6’s giving her a total of 18 out of 30 points.

Jesse Metcalfe

Before appearing on the primetime sudser DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, Jesse Metcalfe got his big break by playing Miguel on NBC’s PASSIONS. His professional dance partner was revealed to be Sharna Burgess, and they danced a quickstep to “Part-Time Lover” by Stevie Wonder. The judges admired his enthusiasm and partnering but urged him to work on his frame and shoulders. Metcalfe also earned three 6’s from the judges for 18 out of 30 points.

From the judges’ scores, Heche and Metcalfe are relatively safe, but Stause could be in jeopardy of elimination as only Charles Oakley and Carole Baskin scored lower than her. Of course, there are still the viewer votes to factor in so we’ll find out the final results in next Monday’s episode!
