Would DAYS OF OUR LIVES Recast Ciara? — The Headwriter Speaks Out!

When Victoria Konefal chose to drop to recurring status, it led some fans to wonder if Ciara would be recast on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Because the actress is no longer on contract, her comings and goings have interrupted the very popular Ben and Ciara coupling. Recently, the writers were forced to give the character amnesia so she didn’t remember her love for Ben and would leave Salem with Theo instead. While Konefal is due to return to DAYS this summer, viewers are still worried that the soap might recast the role in order to keep both characters on the canvas together uninterrupted.

“That’s a viable option,” DAYS headwriter Ron Carlivati admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “But it was one that we didn’t choose to make. I feel that while a recast can work, it could also fail. There’s a magic between Ben and Ciara and there’s a magic between Victoria and Rob [Scott Wilson, Ben] and you may lose some of that magic with a recast.”

So while it might be frustrating for fans that Ciara will leave the canvas for months at a time, they can rest assured that Konefal will continue to play the role and tell Ben and Ciara’s love story. At least for the time being, as a recast is never completely off the table in soaps. “I wanted to preserve not just Ben and Ciara, but Rob and Victoria in any way we could,” Carlivati explained. “And if there was no other option, then we could talk about a recast down the road. But right now there was an option and we figured it out with Victoria.”

So keep watching DAYS to see what happens when Ciara returns to Salem this summer and what other twists and turns the soap throws at her and Ben to keep the drama going!
