Behind the Scenes of GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Dangerous Explosion!
The climax of the Nov. 29 episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL was explosive… literally! As the cops cornered Holly in a cabin in the woods and prepared to make their move to apprehend her, the fugitive tried to make her escape but accidentally started a fire which caused a massive explosion!
Having drugged Robert to steal the necklace containing diamonds from the Ice Princess for Victor, Holly went on the run and holed up in a cabin, hoping an old gas stove could keep her warm. But the cops were able to track her down and surrounded the building. As Jordan ordered her to come out, Holly grabbed the necklace and accidentally knocked over a kerosene lamp that ignited some newspapers on the ground. Outside, everyone watched in horror as an explosion engulfed the cabin in flames and Mac held Robert back as Holly stumbled outside, covered in flames!
It was an impressive stunt, and credit goes not only to GH’s incredible stunt team but stuntwoman, Colby Lemmo, who doubled for actress Emma Samms for the dangerous scene. Lemmo has been doing stunt work since 2017 and has worked on television series like TIMELESS, LETHAL WEAPON, 9-1-1, and THE MANDALORIAN as well as films like Bad Boys for Life, Army of the Dead, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and The Matrix Resurrections.
In fact, Samms was nowhere near the set at the time the explosive scene was shot. “Let’s just say that I was sitting downstairs in my dressing room when they did the explosion,” the actress marveled in a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest, “and not only did I hear it, but I felt it!”
Holly has been pushed to extremes by Victor, who is holding her son prisoner and using his life to force her to do his bidding. But will nearly losing her own life to save Ethan’s be what finally convinces Holly to bring her friends in on it in the hopes that they might be able to help stop Victor once and for all? You’ll just have to stay tuned to see what happens next!
