There is some good news for fans of GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan)! The Emmy winner’s buzzed-about indie film, Women Is Losers, has been picked up by HBO Max and will debut exclusively on the streaming platform beginning Oct. 18. “So proud our film and what it stands for,” the GH alum shared in an Instagram post. “Can’t wait for you all to see it on Oct. 18th on HBO Max.”
Set in the 1960s, Women Is Losers debuted at the prestigious South By Southwest Film Festival back in March to rave reviews and finished as one of the festival’s most-watched films. The inspirational coming-of-age drama follows Celina, a young Catholic schoolgirl (played by Lorena Izzo) whose promising future is derailed when she unexpectedly finds herself pregnant by her Vietnam vet boyfriend — Craig’s Mateo. Determined to rise above the oppression of poverty, Celina sets out to invest in a future for herself that sets new precedents for the time in the women’s rights film inspired by real women and the Janis Joplin song of the same name.
On Instagram, the Women Is Losers executive team praised Craig’s performance “of a flawed young father unlearning preconceived notions of masculinity… we hope [it] serves as a catalyst for a conversation around engaged fatherhood and team playing partners.”
“I think you will all love this one,” Craig wrote on Instagram when he was first cast in the movie. And when it was announced last spring that Women Is Losers would make its world premiere at the popular SXSW festival in Austin, Craig confessed on social media that the exciting news was a dream come true. “[It’s] always been a goal of mine to star in a movie at SXSW,” the Emmy winner shared on Instagram. “Couldn’t be happier to have done it with this group of talented performers and creatives. Excited to announce the world premiere of our movie, Women Is Losers. Here we go 2021!”
