Fans were upset when Emme Rylan left GENERAL HOSPITAL as Lulu was put into a coma and shipped off to a long-term care facility and have been holding out hope that one day the character will be revived and return to Port Charles. Turns out, the actress herself feels the same!
Rylan has been keeping her fans up-to-date on her life via her Instagram account and recently shared an adorable photo of herself sewing with daughter Dakota in her lap. When a fan commented that it was unfair for GH fans who still don’t know the full story behind why Lulu was written off the soap, Rylan stepped in to explain as best she could. “I was told that I was being taken off contract and that the character was being put into a coma,” she revealed. “I wasn’t informed about anything else.”
When Rylan previously opened up about her imminent — at the time — exit from the soap in a series of Instagram Stories, she did confess that she “did not choose” to leave. However, as much as fans would love to see Rylan back as Lulu Spencer, she would, too! “If they invite me back, I would definitely come back,” she declared. “I love my GH family.”
After a series of child actors, the character of Lulu was aged into a young woman in 2005 and Julie Berman took over the role. When she chose to exit in 2013, Rylan — who had previously played Abby on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and Lizzie on GUIDING LIGHT — stepped into Lulu’s shoes and continued to play Luke and Laura’s daughter right up until her exit in December 2020. Stay tuned to GH to see if Lulu ever wakes up from her coma and rejoins her family in Port Charles!
