GH’s Briana Lane Remembers Her Late Husband on Their Anniversary

The first year after a loved one passes away can be full of difficult moments as those left behind must navigate milestones like birthdays and holidays while still grieving. So we would like to send some extra love to former GENERAL HOSPITAL actress Briana Lane (ex-Brook Lynn) as she marks her first wedding anniversary since her husband, John Lange, passed away earlier this year.

On Dec. 4 — the day before what would have been Lane and Lange’s eighth wedding anniversary, the actress paid a loving tribute to her spouse on Instagram, eight months after his tragic death. “Our memories together feel surreal and otherworldly now,” she confessed. “Distant glimmers projected on a screen in what feels like someone else’s life’s museum. Unreachable, unfathomable, yet overwhelmingly beautiful, familiar, and comforting.”

Lane went on to explain that her husband loved poet and novelist Charles Bukowski, and that she’d once hung a quote by the writer —“What matters most is how well you walk through the fire” — on the refrigerator in their home. “It’s odd to say on a public Instagram post that I believe my late husband is somehow guiding me through this Bukowski quote, but I’ve been seeing it everywhere now and I feel him nodding to me every time,” she confessed. “Some fires we put ourselves in, others we don’t get to choose. Either way, the only path is through.”

It seems like Lane has found comfort in the inspirational quote over the last few months as she adjusted to life as a widow. “I like to think that wherever he is, he’s proud of me for crossing to the other side this year,” she wrote of John, “redefining parts of myself that needed it, coming out stronger, more present, and definitely rolling his eyes at me for wearing this dumb hat,” she quipped of the cowboy hat she had on in the first of three photos she shared in her post. (The other two images were beautiful pictures from their wedding day in 2015.)

“Happy eight years John and happy eight months in heaven,” Lane concluded her tribute to her beloved husband. “Sending love forever from the big desert sky.”

GH fans remember Lane for her two stints filling in for Amanda Setton as Brook Lynn Quartermaine on the soap. Her first run, while Setton was on maternity leave in the fall of 2020, earned Lane a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Performer. She also briefly appeared when Setton was unavailable for an episode in October 2022.
