How Sonny and Spencer Are Related on GENERAL HOSPITAL
Sometimes family connections on soaps can be a little confusing for viewers, especially when certain characters are no longer on the canvas. And some fans have wondered how is Spencer related to Sonny on GENERAL HOSPITAL whenever they share scenes. Well, don’t worry, we’re here to help fill in the blanks for you!
Spencer Cassadine recently returned to Port Charles (slightly SORAS-ed with Nicholas Chavez taking over the role) and has been lurking around the edges of the town avoiding anyone who might recognize him. So far he’s only interacted with Trina and met her mother, Portia, neither of whom have any idea who “Victor” really is. But then he did visit a beloved family member, his grandfather, Mike Corbin, at his grave in the cemetery.
Spencer’s parents are Nikolas Cassadine and Courtney Matthews, and Courtney is Mike’s daughter. This makes Sonny Corinthos her brother, which means that Spencer is Sonny’s nephew. So when Spencer would call him “Uncle Sonny,” it wasn’t just a term of endearment! Sadly, Courtney died of encephalitis shortly after Spencer was born, so he grew up without a mom. But even when he couldn’t rely on his father, he could always turn to Uncle Sonny!
Unfortunately, Uncle Sonny is currently presumed dead and living in Nixon Falls with amnesia and calling himself “Mike,” so he won’t be able to offer any support to Spencer. Although the teen doesn’t seem to want anything to do with anyone who knows him right now as he continues plotting revenge against Nikolas for faking his own death. (At least when Sonny turns up alive in the end, Spencer won’t be mad at him since he didn’t do it on purpose!)
Stay tuned to GH to find out how Spencer’s plan proceeds and how everyone reacts to his return to Port Charles!
