James Patrick Stuart Previews Valentin and Anna’s Future on GENERAL HOSPITAL!
When it comes to GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Anna and Valentin, this would-be couple has been a romantic pairing years in the making. He was obsessed with her. She hated him. He hated her. They developed a tenuous friendship and grew closer as they worked together to bring down Peter August. They crossed the line into something more than just friends by sharing a few kisses and some sweet dates along the way. But “Vanna,” as the pair has been affectionately dubbed by fans, has yet to become a bona fide Port Charles couple. Are GH viewers holding on to hope for nothing? Will things finally heat up between these two after all these years?
That’s exactly what one viewer asked Valentin’s portrayer, James Patrick Stuart, during a Facebook Live Q&A session. And the actor’s response was… well, optimistic! “I certainly hope so,” he confessed. “They’ve set the stage for a long time now.”
The pair’s tangled history actually pre-dates either of their arrivals in Port Charles, going back to when they were both young agents at a WSB training facility and Valentin thought he’d slept with Anna, but it was really her twin sister, Alex. “I just love the notion that it’s a love that was bordering on obsession for Valentin,” Stuart shared. “He had no business thinking that he could ever have her in his life. And yet circumstances have come into play that they find themselves staring longingly at each other and kissing from time to time.”
But a few kisses do not a couple make. And it seems like every time Anna and Valentin start to move closer into the relationship zone, something takes him out of town. The way Stuart sees it, these two have more of a steamy hot fling in their future than a long-lasting relationship. “It better happen fast because reality will come crashing down and they’ll realize that nothing beyond infatuation exists,” he mused. “There’s no way they’re going to live happily ever after.”
Infatuation has never stopped soap characters from hooking up in the past, though! “But will they go for it anyway is kind of exciting and raunchy and wrong, right?” Stuart concluded with a chuckle. “So, I would probably bet on that.”
Only time will tell if Vanna will crash and burn or be the stuff that legendary soap opera supercouples are made of!
