Kathleen Gati Clarifies Her Status at GH
When Kathleen Gati (Obrecht) shared a video on Twitter announcing that she would be headed to the East Coast in November, it set off a flurry of reactions from GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers who have missed seeing the fan favorite on the screen. While her followers were excited to hear that she’d be attending a fan gathering, they also wanted to know when they would see Gati in Port Charles again!
Obrecht was seen in heavy rotation during the Greenland storyline this past spring after Victor kidnapped the doctor at the Nurses Ball and forced her to work on the antidote for the deadly pathogen he planned on releasing to reduce the earth’s population levels. The abduction happened just before Obrecht was about to donate her bone marrow to save the life of her great-niece, Willow, making Liesl one of the focuses of Drew and Laura’s rescue mission.
Thankfully, Obrecht made it back to GH in time to have the procedure and shared a sweet scene with Willow through the window of her hospital room. Hopefully, the two women will have a chance for a proper reunion once the ailing mom recovers! “I have no idea if and when I will be back on canvas,” Gati responded to a follower. “Life is full of surprises!”
Gati’s admission came a few weeks after the actress had worried fans when she tweeted that she was “loving living in the mountains of Arizona.” Many assumed that meant that she had parted ways with the soap, but Gati quickly clarified that she was still a part of the GH cast. “My husband and I moved to Arizona about three years ago and I commute to Los Angeles as needed for work.”
Gati joined the cast of GH in August 2012 in a role that was meant to be that of a short-term villain. But there was something about the actress that the writers — and viewers — loved, and the character kept evolving into the loving mother and loyal friend that she is today! Hopefully, we will see Liesl Obrecht again very soon!
