Kelly Monaco Is Back at GENERAL HOSPITAL!
Viewers were excited when GENERAL HOSPITAL returned to the air with all-new episodes, but many were startled when the character of Sam McCall was being played by a different actress! But don’t worry — Kelly Monaco’s temporary absence from the soap is soon coming to an end. “She is already filming,” Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) revealed during a Facebook Live he did with Steve Burton (Jason). “So she will be on your screens soon.” Burton added, “She’s good, she’s healthy, and she’s back.”
Later in the chat with fans, Anderson took a moment to ask fans to please be nicer when talking about recasts like Lindsay Hartley, who temporarily filled in for Monaco as Sam. “We know recasts, temporary or permanent, are difficult,” the actor declared. “But please understand that these are actors who are trying to do their best. They are put in a very difficult situation. We have seen in some of our posts people saying nasty things about the replacement. It’s not her fault. She’s doing her best. She’s an accomplished actress and she’s doing a great job. The personal attacks are just not cool. Don’t do it.”
On her own Instagram, Hartley shared her gratitude at being able to play in Port Charles, even if it was just for a little while. “Thank you, GH, for the fortunate experience to play Sam, and especially during this moment in time,” she wrote. “It was a fun ride.”
There has been no information from ABC regarding when Monaco will first return to the screen, so stay tuned to see her comeback!
