Prepare to say goodbye to Britt once again as Kelly Thiebaud wraps up her latest run and leaves GENERAL HOSPITAL this fall. “Excited to be back on STATION 19 stirring up trouble!” she enthused on Instagram.
Deadline is reporting Thiebaud’s exit from GH in November as she prepares to reprise her role of Eva Vasquez on the ABC primetime drama STATION 19. Eva is the widow of fallen Station 19 firefighter Rigo Vasquez, and during Thiebaud’s previous appearances on the show, Eva had a steamy affair with her husband’s colleague, Jack. That naturally caused no end of drama, and she’ll be back in season six to stir up even more!
Thiebaud first appeared on GH as the bitchy, scheming Dr. Britt Westbourne back in September 2012 and she was quickly put on contract with the soap. But by November 2014, it was reported she had dropped to recurring status and last aired in December of that year. But she made further appearances in 2017, 2018, and 2020 before returning on a more regular basis in September 2020. The actress won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2022 for her work on the show.
Britt is currently co-chief of staff of General Hospital alongside Terry, so this could either mean Terry gets the job all to herself, or she might be replaced by someone else entirely. But more importantly, this means that Cody’s pursuit of Britt is going to have to come to an abrupt end. Not that Britt will mind too terribly much, but Cody — and some viewers — are likely to be disappointed.
The report didn’t mention exactly how Thiebaud would be exiting GH, but given that she’s come and go so often over the years, we suspect that Britt will just take off to get her head together and be back one day in the future!
