The special tribute episode that GENERAL HOSPITAL has planned to honor the late John Reilly and his beloved Port Charles character, Sean, is coming up — and fan favorite Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin) teased on Twitter that she would be a part of it! “I did something really cool today that involved wearing makeup and heels all day, which I clearly wasn’t prepared for,” the GH alum tweeted. “Can anyone guess what this cool thing was?”
While McCullough didn’t come out and directly say that she had been working on the soap’s set, she did provide a pretty telling hint. “Here’s a clue — saw some old friends and reminisced about an absent dear one,” she teased.
As longtime GH viewers know, Sean was best friends with Robin’s parents, Robert and Anna, who picked him to be their daughter’s godfather. As a result, Sean was a prominent part of Robin’s life while she was growing up.
Reilly, a veteran soap actor also known to daytime fans for his run as evil PASSIONS patriarch Alistair, died in January at the age of 86. At the time of his passing, GH announced that a special tribute episode would be planed for the spring. Last week, the soap announced that Reilly’s real-life daughter, actress/comedian/TikTok personality Caitlin Reilly, had been hired to play his reel-life daughter, Annie, for the special tribute. Further proof that McCullough is also part of the special show? When Reilly shared the news of her GH guest spot on Instagram, McCullough commented that she would “see you soon”!
In storyline, Robin has been living on the West Coast since she and husband Patrick moved across the country in 2016 to take positions at a hospital in Berkeley, California. They’ve been raising their children, Emma and Noah, there ever since, but both Robin and Emma have made treks back home to Port Charles to visit. (Patrick’s former portrayer, Jason Thompson, moved over to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, where he’s been playing Billy Abbott ever since.) As for McCullough, she’s been working steadily in Hollywood as a director, most recently on the second season of the Disney+ series HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES.
There’s no word yet from the soap as to when the on-air tribute to Reilly and Sean will air, so check back with SoapsInDepth.com for updates!
