Matt Cohen Previews His Romantic New Movie!

Tags:

The new Hallmark Channel movie airing this weekend finds GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Matt Cohen (ex-Griffin) in the middle of a love triangle! Called Made For Each Other, the film — which also stars Alexandra Turshen and Aaron O’Connell — will premiere on Saturday, February 25, at 8 p.m. as part of the network’s “Loveuary” month of programming.

The movie follows Rachel, a sculptor, who has always been a bit of a perfectionist in both her career and in finding a partner. After a friend tells Rachel about the folklore of the Jewish Golem, the life-sized sculpture of a man she’d been working on magically comes to life. When Clay, played by O’Connell, turns out to be sweet, romantic, and everything Rachel thinks she’s been looking for in a partner, she brings him as her date to her sister’s wedding.

And that’s when she meets Cohen’s character, David, an unlucky-in-love former attorney who gave up a lucrative career to pursue his passion for standup comedy. Although sparks fly between Rachel and David, he’s disappointed to discover that she’s dating a perfect guy like Clay. The trio soon become friends and with David’s encouragement, Rachel submits her artwork to a contest and wins a presentation at an art show. As the date draws near, Rachel realizes she has feelings for both men — and begins to wonder if perfection is all that it’s cracked up to be.

Talking about the film’s supernatural twist during a Facebook live chat to promote the movie, Cohen sang the praises of the other man in the love triangle. “Clay has such a beautiful innocence to watch,” he said. “Clay is a striking character. He is a character that grabs you by the heart so unexpectedly. When you read it, you think, ‘How is this going to come off the page?’”

While the audience will go along with Rachel on her journey as she navigates her feelings for the two men in the movie, Cohen said that the film has a deeper message about the pursuit of happiness. “This short life that we get, you should make it as happy as possible,” he said. “Find happiness every day.”
