Maurice Benard Shows Off Son Joshua’s Musical Talents!

Tags:

Talent clearly runs in the family! Maurice Benard (Sonny, GENERAL HOSPITAL) is already an award-winning actor, and his 16-year-old son, Joshua Benard, is clearly following in his dad’s footsteps! “At 13, my son Joshua said to me, ‘Dad, I want to be an actor,’” the proud pop shared on Instagram. “I said, ‘No, you don’t.’ He said, ‘Dad, yes I do.’ I said, ‘Prove to me that you’ll work hard.’ He did, so I’ve been his teacher for four years.”

GH fans have already seen Joshua on screen in the special “What If?” episode that aired in 2018 where he played a young Sonny Corinthos. And more recently, in October 2021, the young performer played a teenager in an episode of the ABC primetime drama STATION 19.

However, anyone who follows Benard Sr. on social media will have seen some of his posts showing off his son’s musical talents, and Joshua’s latest video is a stunner! “As far as piano, guitar, and singing,” Benard admitted, “he’s what you call self-taught.”

In the moody black and white video Benard shared online, Joshua is dressed in a black suit as he sits down at the family’s grand piano to play “Victor’s Piano Solo,” composed by Danny Elfman for the 2005 Tim Burton film Corpse Bride. So perfect for Halloween!

Naturally, the comments quickly filled with praise from friends and fans, including some of Benard’s GH castmates. “Amazing,” declared Marcus Coloma (Nikolas), adding a few fire emojis for emphasis. And Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin) remarked: “Of course this is your son…”

With gifts like Joshua’s, we can’t wait to see what the talented teen does next! (Obviously, keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for more!)
